Your witness is more powerful than you think

Jesus talked about sowing seed.  The seed fell all over the place and a lot of it was lost - at least three quarters of it if you take the parable literally.  He could have looked at the results and felt discouraged.  But instead he chose to look at the small portion of the seed that actually produced fruit, and that is what he focussed upon.

Most of us underestimate how God uses us, and the enemy takes full advantage of that to discourage us in stepping out further.  The truth is that the seed we have sown is bearing more fruit than we think.  We may never see it until heaven, but it is real.

We all carry within us the presence of the Holy Spirit and the love of God.  How can we think that would not have an impact?  Our lives may be the only Bible people read, but they are reading it.

A young man I lived with as an undergraduate was about as ungodly in his lifestyle as anyone could be.  There wasn’t a shred of Christianity about the way he thought, spoke or lived.  After three years, I assumed my witness had been a complete waste - until the day he came to me and said this: “For three years I’ve been watching you, and I want what you have.”  Then he added the very sad words: “But I’m not willing to pay the price.”  Yet here is the point. I have no doubt that, decades later, he still remembers me and, more importantly, my witness to Christ.

Every single act of kindness, every expression of care, every offer to pray for someone counts in God’s economy.

It doesn’t take a lot to make an impression on people that may last a lifetime.  The Bible says we are ambassadors of Christ. We are Christ’s representatives on earth.  You may be the only ambassador some people ever see.  And what you say and do makes a difference.

The enemy will tell you over and over again that what you have done in terms of Christian witness was useless.  Don’t believe him.

Let the seed of your life fall around you, and let God worry about what he does with it.

Just be sure of this: he is using it, for nothing in God’s economy goes to waste.
